Pre-Appointment Instructions

To ensure the best possible experience and results from your visit at The Beauty Anex, please take a moment to review the following pre-appointment guidelines. These steps help us prepare your skin or lashes for treatment, minimize sensitivity, and deliver optimal results.

Your comfort, safety, and satisfaction are our top priorities — thank you for taking the time to prepare!
  • Complete any intake forms and releases prior to your appointment time.

  • Please arrive at least 5 minutes early to avoid any late fees.

  • Avoid wearing heavy makeup or skincare products on the area being treated.

  • Stay hydrated and get plenty of rest prior to your visit.

  • Let us know if you’re pregnant, on medications, or have allergies/sensitivities.

  • If you’re feeling unwell, please reschedule out of respect for others and your servicer.

Facials

  • Do not book immediately after sun exposure or tanning — unless booking for sun relief facial.
  • Pause the use of retinoids, exfoliants (AHA/BHA), vitamin C, and acne treatments at least 3 days prior.
  • No waxing or shaving on the treatment area at least 24-48 hours before.
  • Come with a clean face — no makeup, SPF, or oils if possible.
  • Please notify your esthetician if you’ve had any other skin/medical spa treatments in the last 2 months.
  • Bring a list of skincare products you currently use.

Dermaplaning facial

  • Discontinue retinoids, exfoliants, and acne treatments at least 3–5 days prior.
  • Avoid facial waxing for 7 days before the appointment.
  • Come with a clean face — free of makeup, moisturizers, or SPF.
  • No active breakouts or open wounds on the skin.
  • Not recommended if you’ve had injectables or peels in the last 2 weeks.
  • Arrive with clean lashes — no mascara, lash glue, or oily residue.
  • Avoid using lash serums 48 hours before.
  • Arrive with clean, makeup-free eyes and lashes.
  • Avoid heavy moisturizers or serums around the eye area.
  • Do not curl your lashes before your appointment.
  • Remove contact lenses before the appointment (bring glasses if needed).
  • Avoid caffeine — it can make eyelids flutter during application.
  • Avoid retinoids, exfoliants, or harsh skincare near the brow area for 3–5 days.
  • Do not tweeze, wax, thread, or shave your brows at home before your appointment.
  • Arrive with clean brows, free of makeup, oils, or self-tanner.
  • If you have any skin conditions, sunburn, or recent peels, let us know beforehand.
  • Avoid caffeine — it can make skin more sensitive during waxing.
  • Avoid retinol, glycolic acid, or strong exfoliants. 2-3 days prior.
  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning, heavy exfoliation 48 hours before.
  • Gently exfoliate the area 24 hours prior to help prevent ingrown hairs.
  • Hair should be at least ¼ inch long (about a grain of rice) for best results.
  • Don’t apply lotions, oils, or deodorant on the treatment area before your appointment.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol day-of — both can increase skin sensitivity.
  • Let your esthetician know if you’re on any medications like Accutane, antibiotics, or topical acne creams.
